Description
Chromium Trioxide / Chromic Acid is widely used in metal finishing, wood preservation and in Manufacturing of some organic chemicals. It is a strong oxidizer and dissolves readily in water.
Packing: 25 Kgs. / 50 Kgs. Identified uses of Chromium Trioxide:
-
Used as an intermediate in the manufacture of other chromium-based substances
-
Used in the formulation of preparations, such as metal finishing products or catalysts
-
Used for surface treatments like functional and decorative electroplating, passivation, anodizing, and plastic plating
Use of catalysts containing chromium trioxide : Chromium/iron catalysts are mainly used in ‘high temperature shift’ reactions. Catalysts are usually chromium (III) oxide and iron oxide formulations so generally only a small proportion of chromium trioxide is used in catalyst manufacture.
Small scale laboratory use of chromium trioxide : Chromium trioxide is used in combination with sulphuric acid on a small scale in laboratories for the oxidation of alcohols to carboxylic acids and ketones. It is also used in COD determination as a strong oxidiser.
